About Me
I’m Shafi Subhan, a photographer and visual storyteller based in Grand Rapids, MI.I run Subhan Photography, where I focus on documentary-style storytelling through events, portraits, and community-centered moments. I also serve as Photo Director at Aves Films, leading brand and corporate photography projects in collaboration with a talented creative team. Locally, I work with Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) to capture the vibrant energy of the city’s events and public life.I’m the co-owner of DaVinci Weddings, where we offer timeless wedding photo and video coverage for couples who want their day documented with care and artistry.Outside of photography, I manage Kentwood City FC, a recreational soccer team, and run FutbalKits.com—designing custom jerseys for local teams in partnership with MahajjaDesign. I also support my wife’s business, Makeup by Elma, handling the website and behind-the-scenes operations while she leads the artistry—offering professional makeup for weddings, events, photoshoots, and film.I’m passionate about storytelling, design, and building community—whether through photography, soccer, or supporting meaningful creative work.

Collaborating with a team of passionate filmmakers allows me to capture dynamic, engaging moments both on and off set.

As the co-owner of DaVinci Wedding, I specialize in shooting and editing both photo and video, capturing timeless wedding moments with an emphasis on real emotions and candid storytelling. Whether it’s an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, my goal is to provide couples with beautiful, authentic imagery that allows them to relive their special day for years to come. From filming heartfelt vows to crafting cinematic edits, I ensure every detail is preserved with artistry and care.

My wife, Elma, is the creative force behind Makeup by Elma, offering professional makeup services for weddings, photoshoots, and special events. I support her business by helping with processes, editing her videos, managing social media, creating branding (including logos), and maintaining her website. I also assist with equipment and lighting when she travels on location for work, ensuring she has everything she needs to provide the best experience for her clients. My role is to keep the behind-the-scenes aspects running smoothly, allowing her to focus on her artistry while growing her brand.

FutbalKits.com is where custom soccer jerseys meet creativity. I provide high-quality, custom-designed kits for recreational teams, including my own, Kentwood City FC. Kentwood City FC
Kentwood City FC is a recreational soccer team I created and manage, bringing together players who share a love for the game. We compete in the Rebellion Bridge Street League, EGR Rec, and MSA Woodland Leagues, focusing on fun, teamwork, and staying active. More than just a team, Kentwood City FC is about building community, enjoying the sport, and creating memorable moments on and off the field—all without the pressure of high-stakes competition. Whether it’s a hard-fought match or a casual kickaround, we play for the passion of the game.
